Your guest rooms are the most important product at your hotel, so by enhancing your guest rooms you can also improve the guest experience and value of your property. You don’t have to do an expensive renovation of your guest rooms to improve the guest experience; adding one or two hotel room amenities can make a big difference.

We created a list of 10 hotel room amenities that can make your guest rooms more elegant.

Our mission at Front Desk Supply is to help you create a memorable guest experience in the easiest and most cost-effective way.

1. Bathrobes

Who doesn’t love a cozy bathrobe? Bathrobes give your guests something comfy to wear after a shower or when they’re headed to the pool. Housekeeping can wash the bathrobes when the guest checks out, but you can also allow guests to purchase them (for a marked-up price).

2. Cocktail Station

Most hotel rooms have a small coffee station, but what about a cocktail station?

This might be a good option for boutique hotels that do not have a bar on-site or for properties that have mini-bars in the guest rooms.

3. Local Coupons

How cool would it be for your guests to enter their room after check-in and find a coupon or discount card for local attractions? This might be a great option for your property if you have partnerships with local attractions.

At Front Desk Supply, you can create custom discount cards or you can incorporate them into your key cards and key holders.

4. Shaving Kit

Every hotel room has soap, shampoo, and hair dryers. But what about a shaving kit? This might be an excellent hotel room amenity for boutique properties or hotels that receive longer-stay or business travelers.

5. Air Fresheners

Air fresheners make the guest rooms much more breathable and can be very useful for older hotels (which could have a “musty” scent) or hotels that are located in busy metropolitan areas with poorer air quality.

6. Welcome Gifts

Guests enjoy being surprised by a welcome gift when they enter their room, but it can be difficult to find a welcome gift that’s not too expensive.

A welcome drink might be one of the best options. They’re usually offered at large, all-inclusive resorts, but you can still offer welcome drinks at boutique properties. If you don’t have enough staff to offer welcome drinks at the front desk, you could place a “Welcome Drink Card” in the guest rooms; the guest would redeem it at your bar / restaurant.

To save money, you could incorporate this into your key cards or key holders.

7. Books

If you have a smaller property, you might not have enough space to add a small library. Instead, you could place a few books in each guest room. This is practiced by many luxury resorts, but it’s well-suited for boutique hotels that have a “vintage” aesthetic.

You don’t need to buy expensive books, either; you can buy a large quantity of fun reads from used bookstores. It might be helpful to look for lighthearted summer reads or books that are topical to your location.

8. Toothbrush Holders

Many hotels supply toothpaste, but fewer properties have decorative toothbrush holders. Guests often place their toothbrushes on the bathroom counter.

However, toothbrush holders can make the bathrooms in boutique or luxury hotels look so much more refined.

9. Decorative Plants

Decorative plants can infuse your guest rooms with a natural ambiance, and they can also help you beautify corners of the room that are hard to decorate. If you have smaller guest rooms, you might consider placing smaller plants on windowsills or hanging shelves.

10. Kids Tent

Most parents would agree that traveling with kids can be a little more cumbersome. When there are not enough beds for the whole family, the kids usually end up sleeping on a rollaway bed, which is tedious to move and takes up a lot of space inside the room.

A kid’s tent is a much more fun option for children, and it’s usually easier to transport and store.
