We are in the middle of a global health crisis that has put a strain on businesses everywhere. Travel bans are growing, and hotels are feeling the impact.

While this strange and difficult time has caused much worry, it has also brought people together in unique ways. As the spread of coronavirus continues to affect hotels all across the country, the hospitality industry is coming together and finding opportunities to stay open to support their employees and communities.

Here’s how hotels are during their part during this pandemic:

Relief For Truck Drivers

One of the most important jobs during this time is the work truck drivers are doing. While most people are cooped up in their homes, they are on the roads transporting necessary goods to keep our communities running. Restaurants have begun to offer truckers food at discounted prices. Hotels have hopped on board too by providing rooms for a lower price, and in some cases, free.

The Lava Hotel & Spa in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho is offering a place for truck drivers to rest and relax, at no cost!

This Hilton Garden Inn is assisting truck drivers by offering them a special rate for their rooms and amenities.

Transforming Rooms Into Isolation Spaces

Hospitals are beginning to fill up, and hotels are finding ways to be a helpful resource. City and state officials have begun to partner with hotels to provide rooms for quarantine and isolation. Chicago is among the cities to repurpose their hotel rooms. Hotel owners can choose to be on a state list for health care facility use or the federal list, which represents housing capacity that governors, mayors, and public health officials can appoint for use.

Hotel 166 is one of the hotels that has taken in patients who have either tested positive for COVID-19 with minor symptoms, or those who are waiting for test results.

What Our Team Is Doing

As we navigate through this unsettling time, our team at Front Desk Supply wants to provide support to the hotels we work with. We are offering hand washing tent signs shown below, free of charge. These signs can be put around your hotel and in guest rooms to support your efforts to keep guests healthy and safe. Let us know that you would like them, and we will get them out to you.

Support and strength from all communities and industries are needed more than ever. Even with travel restrictions in place, hotels are getting creative and doing what they can to help the fight against COVID-19.

Please share stories from your hotel, and we will be sure to feature them in future blogs!

In order to keep our team healthy and safe, we have taken precautions, and all team members that are not needed in producing or warehousing activities are working from home. Further, we have built additional redundancy in our supply network. Although we have not experienced any significant delays in our supply chain, we will continue to monitor changes and will utilize alternate vendors if needed to ensure we can hold to our normal lead times. We are in close contact with our shipping partners and will advise our customers of any widespread issues affecting delivery.

We know that this is a time of change and uncertainty, so we encourage you to reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns about us, our team, or our products.
